This Formula Drift season has been one of the best yet. With aggressive rookies trying to prove themselves amongst the most seasoned vets, the competition is reaching new heights. Heavy rain looming and ridiculous rain ponchos in hand, Jared Cabral and myself set out to capture the rawest of all Formula Drift stops, known simply as The Gauntlet. The following is a selection of my best and favorite photos from FDNJ 2015. – Matt

Theres something about watching two professionals surgically maneuver gripless vehicles while being just inches from eachother that many have a profound respect for. This Formula Drift season has been an exciting one. From Chris Forsberg sitting podium at every event, to Fredric Aasbo taking his first 2014 win in Round 4, its been an extremely competitive series this year and it could be anyones championship. Jared Cabral (@nor_east), Ivan Jimenez (@iamijp),and Matt Gaumont (@mgaumont) hit Wall Speedway to capture the most competitive east coast stop of the Formula Drift season.

Both the S2000 and RX7 are hailed by motorsport enthusiasts as some of the best platforms available. The RX7 was once banned from JGTC for being “too fast” for the competition and the S2000 is one of the most nimble and exciting cars to drive to date. Surely there has to be some dope builds worthy of ‘BeastCoast Elite’ status in the country we call “America’s Hat”. Enter, Tyler Mahaney’s S2000. This Eastern Canadian hardtop neck breaker kills the streets of New Brunswick and shows us Americans what stance is all about.
(PS: BeastCoast is international biiiitch!!)

It’s not every day you see an S15 Silvia, In fact, most people have never seen one. I’d even go as far as to say that the S15 is more rare in the United States than the R34 Skyline. So how did some 18 year old kid get his hands on one? We’ll leave that one a secret. We’ve seen Alex’s Silvia around on the net a few times but first saw it in person when the SNTRL pre game meet cars were terrorizing Times Square at night. We knew we had to shoot this beautiful S15 as we may not get a chance to see or shoot another for years.
